HERA is leading a bold transformation in sustainable regional aviation, bringing together 52 companies to pioneer the Ultra-Efficient Regional Aircraft (UERA) concept. This next-generation hybrid-electric turboprop aims to set new environmental benchmarks through groundbreaking aerodynamics—such as the Distributed Wing developed under the HERWINGT project—and the integration of hydrogen fuel cells, advanced batteries, and thermal management systems. These innovations target a 30–50% reduction in block fuel consumption through technology alone, with combined efforts using Sustainable Aviation Fuel pushing emissions reductions to an impressive 86–90%.
